looking up *_*

I have had kind of a tough time lately. I lost my bike and had to quit my job due to health problems but I realize that I have so much to be thankful for that there is no reason to dwell on that. The last few days have been fun and friends nearby and online have reached out to cheer me up and wish me well. I am happy because I feel loved and hopeful for the future.

Yesterday Neko and Jason and I went to the laundromat together and played Mario Party on the DS. It must have been cute because we were all squished together on one bench giggling and cheering at our hand held gaming toys. Afterwards we adventured through Berkeley by car and saw some really neat areas. We stopped for lunch at a taqueria in the Epicurious Garden and ate outside in the sun. Next I took them to the Rose Garden and Codornices park. It is located on the hill and the view from up there is great for looking out over the Bay. We took so many photos and walked around the area. Later I spent lots of quality time with maiki and he shared Beard Papa eclairs that he had brought from the city. They are so delicious!

Today has already been wonderful for me. I slept great. Woke up and went for a walk down to 4th street. I bought some compfy green pajama pants on sale from Anthropologie (so I can stop borrowing from my roommate!) and found an amazing collection of design books at the Builders Booksource. I didn’t buy any books today but sat down in a chair to study a stack of them. They were all so inspiring, especially the Japaneses produced ones about icons and signage. They are beautiful to me! I picked up some fresh vegetables from the Pasta Shop and came back to C9th to make lunch for maiki and I. We had tofutti covered everything bagels with lox, tomatoes and red onion. Now I am enjoying a nice cup of earl gray lavender tea. Lunch was better than anything I could get in a restaurant—seriously I never know why I waste my money eating out with such a restricted diet. I have some paperwork to deal with today but I know that I can relax because I have done lots of cleaning and organizing as of late and can now enjoy the fruits of my labor. Yahoo!

one more robot

So we did it. Well I didn’t do much, but the web comic site is up and running. onemorerobot.com!!!

I am famous now. Yahoo! Kimi does the artwork and maiki and Justin have handled the technical side. Jason provides the sarcasm and me I just exist and they write down what I say. My part is pretty easy really. The neat part about it is that the web comic is very true to life. Living here at Cloud Ninth is just that awesome.

We are all really excited because the site is getting a huge amount of visitors. We were blown away by the numbers. Also we have lots of ways to share the comic through social networking links on the page. Isn’t technology magical?!

Update

Here are all of the comics!

fanime and lots of manga

I have been so sick since school has been out! First I got the flu then a head cold. Although I have managed to do some really fun things too. We went to FanimeCon in San Jose for Memorial Day weekend and had a really great time and spent a whole lot of money buying anime, manga, DVD’s, art and lots of other fun things. Since the last Fanime I have become a lot more aware of and have viewed a whole bunch of anime. My favorites are Honey & Clover, Bleach and Sgt. Frog. Also I love all of Hayao Miyazaki’s films and the movie Tekkonkinkreet. On the Saturday of Fanime weekend I cosplayed Shiroi from Tekkonkinkreet. It was really neat to see all of the cosplayers at the convention!

Our manga library is also growing a steady pace. We have several bookshelves already in the house but we still have manga stacked up in our room as well. It is a fun mess to have but not sure how to solve this problem yet. It is not keeping me from wanting to purchase the next book in the series as I finish reading one though. I have a weakness for buying Bleach and Sgt. Frog because I am finding out how much the anime and manga differ so you get extra back story or scenes that did not make it into the anime. It is a lot of fun for me!

In other news I was hired and begin training as a server at a small cafe here in Berkeley. It is close to home and a job that I have enjoyed doing in the past. I am looking forward to making some extra spending money for food and manga—which tend to be my only expenses besides rent. The only down side is that I will be have to wake up a lot earlier than I am used to for this job. No more late nights watching movies on the projector for me! I am sure that I will acclimate pretty quickly however because I like being up and out of the house during the day.
