emma at three years and five months

Clover is a few days shy of three years and five months and now seems so big. I tell her every day that she is growing so well. I see more of a big kid than the toddler that she once was.

three yrs four mos

Clover still loves the same things: books, Calico Critters and playing with her tea set.

Clover also now really enjoys legos, acting out stories for her wooden Little Bear friends, blocks and transportation toys.

In the mornings she plays for hours and with every single things that she owns. Its amazes me.

Sometimes I plan activities but mostly she likes free play that is self directed. Play dough and painting are fun activities we like to do together at the table.

There is always time for sitting down and reading books. All books, all the time around here. ^_^

today I am happy

IMG_20150128_103023~2

Today I am happy. It is my Dad’s birthday. My Mom was in the hospital and is released today to go home. Together they can celebrate. This picture was taken last month during our visit.

seeds

My little family here in Oakland is warm and well fed and glad to be together. We just found out that we are all set to start growing at the toddler garden. We have lots of seeds and enthusiastic to get our hands dirty.

wooden

Emma has been collecting lovely wooden toys for each Little Bear character. When she receives a new one she introduces them to the others. It is sweet.

It is a bright day in my heart even if outside it is cloudy. Emma and I still find all the magnolias and sakura blooming and the cute little gnomes on the electrical poles. Little signs of growth and happiness. ^_^

making lowly worm

We went to JoAnn’s fabric store when we were in L.A. and purchased felt for our Lowly Worm project. Later that day we asked my sister Joan to help us with the sewing materials that we needed, and she graciously sewed Lowly together with her sewing machine. My niece Claire and I designed the parts of his body and Joan sewed and stuffed Lowly to life. There was a little bit of hand sewing required and it came together easily. Lowly was so fun to make, I am ready for the next felt project! ^_^

Joan had both Emma and her cat to contend with while she tried to sew Lowly together on the machine.

Here is Lowly the next morning, before the hand sewing of his smile and shoe laces.
