We drove to our favorite spot in the Oakland Hills. It is called Reinhard Redwood Regional Park.
We saw so many ladybugs (too many!) and I learned they are actually called lady beetles. They all arrive at their ancestral hibernations grounds to wait out the winter. They like this area near the redwoods and the stream.
We ate our lunch here then walked a little further on the trail towards Skyline, but did not continue all the way.
It was darker and colder on the trail along the redwoods. Thank goodness we were all bundled up. I love visiting this forest. It is so magical and close to where we live!
This summer I made reservations to go to Roberts pool in Oakland every Sunday for a month and a half. The pool is located in a redwood forest, is always the perfect temperature and inexpensive. It made for a perfect late summer activity when the bay area begins to warm up.
Today we used our friends car and drove just five miles to get to gorgeous redwoods. We visited this regional park in November and I was eager to return. It smells so good and fresh with the scent of bay laurel and redwoods.
Today we visited Oakland's redwood regional park! 🌲 We took a shuttle from the Oakland main public library and were accompanied by Alex of East Bay Regional Parks. It was beautiful afternoon.
