b-day road trip

Reserved one of our regular City Car Share cars and went on a road trip. Visited our old home and old haunts. My actual birthday we went wine tasting and came home with a mostly full case of wine. ^_^ We made a figure eight of a drive there and back and made sure we crossed all three north bay area bridges in the process. Today off to the Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason!

academy of sciences

I visited the California Academy of Sciences yesterday for the first time with Jason and Joanna. We had found out that teachers (and other heroes!) receive free admission until March 15th. It was easier to get to than I had thought and we ended up taking the N Muni train pretty much directly to Golden Gate Park. I loved all of the exhibits and was happy to see lots of frogs and alligator/crocodiles! I took a few pictures of fish, frogs and such but most did not come out that great. We were all laughing about their albino crocodile that looked like he was made of stone. We confirmed that he was alive but he is very lazy. I would like to return when I have more time to spend. Also the Japanese Tea Garden is very close by and visiting there is a must!

december is here

bike rides! IMG_6305

Jason and I went on a bike ride along the San Francisco Bay Trail. The weather here so far has been warm one day and cool the next. Very unpredictable but as long as its not raining I can ride my bike. I plan on riding my bicycle daily when school is out (crossing my fingers that it doesn’t rain the whole time).

finals! I am in the process of completing three books, three chinese boxes, a chopsticks holder, a gift bag, and studying for two tests. I did not travel during the Thanksgiving break so I actually got a lot of work done and am feeling on top of everything. I always experience mixed feelings as semesters end. I want to have a break but at the same time know that in a week I will want to be back in school. I will really post everything when I am done. I know that I keep saying that but this time I mean it. *_*

my Amazon wish list! Just for fun. I am not expecting any gifts this Christmas because I am staying home. I am totally okay with that because I don’t need anything—but I can always buy myself a new art book.

vacation! After the first of the year maiki and I are planning to visit Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, and Oceanside. I am really looking forward to the trip, and am especially relieved to not be traveling during the holidays. There are so many fun things that I want to do.

So much, so quickly!

What I have been doing as of late:
• Lots of homework. In all classes. Sometimes doing it over and over again. Currently designing comps for two different websites.
• Learning crazy techniques in Printmaking. First relief printing where I cut into linoleum. Second metal plate etching that develops in acid.
• Learning to draw the human form with the help of nude models in Sketching.
• Playing Magic: the Gathering. Not very much I am afraid but I did participate in a Kamigawa tournament last weekend here at Cloud 9th.
• Hanging out with lots of friends. Have had many visitors and house guests and it has been awesomely fun.
• Riding my new bike. It has not been raining this week so I have been able to enjoy it. The seat stays wet but other than that it works great.
• Trying not to get sick! I slept like thirteen hours last night. I guess that I really needed to rest. maiki made sure that I drank some Emergen-C.
• Registered for Fall classes. Crazy I know, it seems so far in the future. I am signed up for Screenprinting, Book Arts, Digital Imaging and Digital Arts.
• Eating lots of good fruit. I went to the Berkeley Bowl market where they have the largest produce department that I have ever seen. It is like an inside farmers market. Yay for cheap, delicious organic fruit! _
