maiki took this photo last week. When they sent it to me I did a double take. Emma is almost as tall as me and wearing my boots.
Also, we both love to borrow maiki’s scarf. A couple days later I cut off all of her hair, at her request. 🙂

We were so excited to visit the petting zoo at the Lakeview library. It has been a couple of years since they had it (stupid pandemic) and we were both looking forward to it. Of course the rabbits are the favorites but all the animals were fun and full of personality. Unfortunately I did not get a photo of the alpaca but it was very soft and had a cute face.
In the library Emma submitted her first twenty books for the summer reading program and received a free book and family passes to the Oakland zoo. It was a happy surprise to receive the zoo passes. maiki and I were just discussing a visit and noted I could rent a wheel chair or we could take a shuttle tour. I love the Oakland zoo and am looking forward to visiting with maiki for their first time.
It has been almost six months with long covid and mostly I feel the same. I am still taking Claritin D every day, tired with fatigue, feel achy, have daily fevers/chills, experience shortness of breath and racing heart beat. I feel rather worn out.
I am fortunate we don’t have a very big house. I was recently thinking about how if my bed was far away from everyone I would feel lonely. But our apartment is small and I am cared for every moment by maiki and Emma. Being in the midst of all the action keeps my spirits up.
Today is the summer solstice. Already I have taken Emma to the community pool 3 times. It really wears me out but swimming on warm days is what summer is all about. I get in the water to cool off but am aware of not exerting myself too much.
Knitting club has also resumed at our local library and we go every thursday afternoon. So far I managed to do both activities with rest days in between. We have also been reading lots of books together which is lovely.
Some weekends we visit the gardens or the redwoods on a day I have energy. Last weekend we celebrated our friend Gene’s birthday and had the best time.
