We went on an outing to Berkeley with Jason and made a stop at the Berkeley’s downtown public library. There were puppets and sing-a-longs of “If You Are Happy and You Know It.” Jason is a a good friends of Emma’s and we are missing him now that he is gone.

silhouette
On Sunday afternoon we had an appointment with a professional silhouette artist at Mr. Mopps book store in Berkeley. The artist, Karl Johnson was taught by his father and has been very successful as its not very common any more. I heard about the event through 510 Families and was so excited for the opportunity. We arrived early as they had asked but then found out that they were running behind schedule. Poor Emma Clover was super patient for so long since we had to wait a while for our turn but then barely sat thirty seconds on the chair. Karl worked on her silhouette super quick and it came out really cute! ^_^
bus ride
Today we took the bus for the first time, for me since living in the Bay Area. Its funny since I have been car free the whole time but only taken BART, or lately the ferry, besides walking and riding a bike. It was super convenient to walk down our street to Grand Ave. and jump right on. I was jazzed to use my Clipper card. We took the bus to downtown Berkeley as it went “all through the town” and of course we sang. It was neat though to drive through Piedmont and Oakland to Berkeley. Once in Berkeley we went to the downtown library and Cafe Clem. It has the best brunch and we love the baguettes with butter and jam!
So happy to pick up these books from the library store! only $2.50, no wonder Emma has such a big library at home. ^_^
Let’s do this!

We always go to Berkeley’s West campus pool. Its our favorite probably because it was Emma’s first—we don’t count the real first time that Emma just cried at King pool and hated every second of it. Sometimes when we get there I remember that Berkeley’s weather can be unpredictable (particularly in the summer) and there is always a chance for that cool breeze right off the ocean that sails under the Golden Gate and into West Berkeley. We only swam for twenty minutes and got out with goose bumps and purple lips. It was still fun though!
Looking forward to this new space at Casa Latina
