frog and flowers

Birthday fun day

Today we used our friends car and drove just five miles to get to gorgeous redwoods. We visited this regional park in November and I was eager to return. It smells so good and fresh with the scent of bay laurel and redwoods.

we come for nature, stay for the frogs

Since the garden is open and utterly beautiful we find ourselves walking there most days. It is always the right temperature. Emma likes to sit and read books together or work on her math workbook and so we find homeschooling is easier in this relaxed way. Then she runs off and finds something interesting and we meet up to look at the frogs. They are small and hide in the green leaves that stick up out of the pond. It is meditative to really look and notice them hiding in plain sight.

garden play date

We met in the gardens and had a little picnic. Everyone wore masks and we did our best to give each other a little breathing room. It felt like forever since the last time we saw our friends and definitely since March since we even attempted a play date. I think that the girls friendship grew with the lost time and they are excited we will make it a weekly event.
