bus ride

Today we took the bus for the first time, for me since living in the Bay Area. Its funny since I have been car free the whole time but only taken BART, or lately the ferry, besides walking and riding a bike. It was super convenient to walk down our street to Grand Ave. and jump right on. I was jazzed to use my Clipper card. We took the bus to downtown Berkeley as it went “all through the town” and of course we sang. It was neat though to drive through Piedmont and Oakland to Berkeley. Once in Berkeley we went to the downtown library and Cafe Clem. It has the best brunch and we love the baguettes with butter and jam!

So happy to pick up these books from the library store! only $2.50, no wonder Emma has such a big library at home. ^_^

picnic dinner

maiki brought sandwiches from Ike’s and Emma and I met up with a blanket and melon/quesadilla for Emma to eat. There was still a patch of sun to sit in and enjoy the late summer evening. On the walk home Emma had her first lolly. ^_^

garden trips

Yesterday we went to toddler garden with some friends and they worked on their plot and we helped out. Emma watered everything in sight and stomped in muddy puddles. We are on the list for a garden plot of our own there and are definitely excited. Clover is great at recognizing everything that is growing around us in the garden and her favorites are by far the sunflowers. We bought some from the Farmers’ Market last week and she has enjoyed taking them apart and classifying all their parts.

I found this plant in with the rhododendrons and it is my inspiration for my next watercolor. It is pink and green and has beautiful white blossoms. So lovely. ^_^

pelicans

These pelicans are super cool to see at Lake Merritt! There is one resident pelican and it cannot fly so its friends come over to visit her. Clover and I love visiting all the birds but the pelicans and egrets are my favorite, probably because they are pretty large birds. I love the picture with the pelican and Emma that shows off their size (the pelican is on higher ground by the way). ^_^

new furniture

We now have a couch type thing in our living room. Yay! It is three separate pieces: two comfortable chairs and one ottoman that doubles as storage. Very comfortable and easy to move. Emma also got an easel and we have another small end table, this time in orange. Thank you Ikea. Now we just need a lamp in this living room and it will be complete. ^_^
