We celebrated in the sun as it was finally not raining this weekend. We had great times going to the Farmers’ Market, picnic at the garden, visiting the Oakland Museum, listening to live jazz and bringing home treats from a bakery in Chinatown. At home we watched Sleepy Hollow as Clover slept and viewed the hilarious and heart breaking documentary of Trevor Noah, a South African comic and his first one man show. The film is called You Laugh But Its True and its so wonderful. It was a very cathartic experience as I cried and laughed and felt like the world was going to be a little bit brighter now that he is in it and sharing his unique point of view.

Sunday we visited the natural history exhibit at the Oakland Museum. Emma was excited to see the big animals and exotic fish that they had on display. We like to listen to Ron Crotty play jazz, say hi to the fish and turtles in the ponds and see maybe see one exhibit so the free days on first sundays suit us well.

visit to the Oakland museum

This afternoon we visited the Oakland Museum and it was the first Sunday of the month so there was free admission. We like to visit the Blue Note Cafe on Sundays for live jazz music. Unfortunately today we had just missed the set! We still stayed for a little lunch and then went out to see the koi fish and turtles. Today we saw really big fish and some small fish in the turtle pond. Emma loved to see the activity under the water.

We blew bubbles in the garden and ran into some friends. Afterwards we finally got admission stickers to see an exhibit. Emma could only last through one room (hence why I visit on free days!) so we walked through part of California history. ^_^

I was surprised to see part of an airplane in the middle of the room. Emma was so excited to get into a real airplane and it was great practice for us. She did not want to leave her seat. I told her we could take an airplane soon to see Grandma & Grandpa and she liked that idea very much. ^_^
