We visited the new Flax Art store in Oakland. It is not far from another new (to Oakland) establishment that we also love, Paris Baguette. They are located a few blocks from Broadway and the Oakland city center and both very worth the little walk to visit. The new Flax location is in a spacious warehouse building, just as vast as their last location in San Francisco. It brings me great joy to walk around and see and touch all of the art supplies. Clover and I love to look at the handmade papers and we bought sheet that was covered in magnolias. We also got her a pack of new markers and glue sticks. I am certain we will find an excuse to return again soon. ^_^

We walked around the lake with friends, visiting all of our favorite places from the gardens to the museum. We did a lot of walking but would stop for picnics and enjoyed such good conversation and beautiful scenery it all went by so quickly.

Clover and I went to SF with maiki to try on glasses at the new Warby Parker in Hayes Valley. I picked out a frame called Duval for myself. I think that I need to get an eye check-up to update my prescription though. We went to lunch at DeLessio’s and hung out in Flax, an art store on Market St. We made almost the same trip last June. ^_^

Clover loved all of the flat drawers of paper. This one that had embroidered elephants was our favorite.

We have made lots of BART trips to and from Berkeley lately for music class and visiting friends. Sometimes the lighting on the train is perfect for portraits of Clover.

On the fourth of July we received a surprise gift when we met the artist who paints the Oakland gnomes. It was such a treat and now Clover has a little gnome plaque of her own. ^_^

We went shopping at Flax to stock up on watercolors and paper. It is the best art store in S.F. and I love visiting for my dose of creativity and visual stimulation. I could spend hours in there looking at just the paper. Emma found a table set up with markers and paper and drew a bunch while maiki and I took turns looking around the store. It was a fun experience and we were all jazzed with our new art supplies!
