Over the weekend we attended the fundraiser for the Lake Merritt Gardens called the Autumn Lights Festival. The event was sponsored by PG&E and was a fantastic light and art display in the gardens that took place in the evenings. We loved it and were so happy to attend.

visit with family
We stayed with Aunt Elayne in Carlie’s room. We like her sharing her big bed and its super soft and covered in pillows. Aunt Elayne makes us smoothies for breakfast.
Clover picked out this dress when we went shopping at the used children’s clothing shop called Children’s Orchard. They had lots of costumes for Halloween and Emma loved every dress.
We visited Grandma and Grandpa’s little place and played with all of their horses and giraffes. They have lots of pictures hung all over.
Emma’s aunts threw her a little Frozen themed party at the park. Emma licked all the frosting off of the cupcakes and opened many presents.
Aunt Elayne has a pool in her backyard and we went in for a bit. CLovey loved eating every color of Otter Pop!
Aunt Barbara drove us around all weekend and took us to parks. We had lots of fun this trip!
first airplane ride
We flew down to L.A. this past weekend and Emma Clover rode in an airplane for the first time. I was anxious for the flight because we had been suffering for the week prior with colds and head congestion but both of us were fine with the change in air pressure. Due to Fleet Week we were stuck on the runway for almost an hour before we actually took off and it was hard for Em to sit in her seat. Eventually we ascended into the air and Clovey fell asleep for the short flight down to Los Angeles.
On the way home we departed out of LAX and that airport is so busy all of the time. We waited in long lines that proved to look worse than they actually were and got through security with ease. The terminals were super crowded but we always found a seat. Our flight left on time and before we knew it we were home again. I will definitely fly again next time because Emma gets so car sick when we drive and it is a very long time to be strapped in a car seat. This method was so much easier!
I love these pictures of Emma from our return flight. She is wearing dress-up clothes and watching Little Bear on the tablet, while eating a lolly. For an almost three-year-old it doesn’t get much better than this.
community poster
I saw this on the wall at an Oakland bagel spot and loved the message!
We Make Our Communities Safer Together! by Micah Bazant
I found out that this poster was designed with Justice for Families in Oakland, CA in July 2013, for their “Night Out for Safety & Democracy” event, which is an alternative to the police and neighborhood watch sponsored National Night Out.
