my favorite music
I just realized that I listen to 3 songs that pretty much sum up my favorite music sound.
First is by Lullatone from their Soundtracks for Everyday Adventures album called “the best paper airplane ever.” You should listen to it right now. Its short, just follow the link to Lullatone’s site.
Second is The Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s song “Perpetuum Mobile.”
Third is by the Books called “Classy Penguin.” I don’t know anything about the Books except that a big music lover recommended them to me. I like this song a lot, and I think that its a funny coincidence that I also love penguins and they have been mentioned twice now.
more to love…
maiki and I recently watched the live action Solanin. It was really wonderful (unlike the live action Honey & Clover which was was cheesy). Afterwards I found myself excited for spring, wanting to get a super cute hair cut (which I did!) and fell in love with listening to music from my head phones all over again. Ha, ha, as superficial as all that sounds, it is a moving story. To be honest if it wasn’t for the love I have and receive from my little family I may be writing a post about depression and questioning the meaning in my life. Its a really deep story like that. Read the manga first because then you get all the little nuances that make it special.
Speaking of music and Honey and Clover, the film does have a wonderful soundtrack that I have been listening to on repeat. Also just acquired a lot of Tchaikovsky and it is helping me to feel like I can branch out with my musical tastes. There is so much music that I want to listen to, especially jazz and classical.
I have also been working a little less and spending more time with Emma Clover. I just started feeding her rice cereal and fruit (apples and bananas) and its the little things that get me. Watching her splash in the bath, hearing her talk and laugh, and being utterly amazed that she can grow so long so fast. Being a mom is the best thing I have ever done.
love for you seba jun!
While I was an Fanime this weekend I found out that a favorite musician of mine had passed away—Nujabes. I began listening to the Samurai Champloo soundtrack obsessively after first viewing it four years ago. It has been the soundtrack to my life ever since and all of his other music has been added to the rotation. I am saddened by this news.
albums designs that I really like
Pink Floyd albums always had really good photography. I had the Meddle album hung up on my wall, opened up to show the four members. Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffitti album was so well crafted. It had little windows that were all die cut in the front.
I was fortunate when I was young to inherit by brother’s album collection. As I got older I also added to it. I had a lot of media there for a while—keeping records, tapes and CDs took up a lot of space. I really appreciate now just having the digital files stored on my computer. Sometimes although I do miss having the actual album art and liner notes, but that’s what the internet is for. ^_^
