My grandparents Magnolia and Charles and their children. My mama is the baby.
Here is another when my mama is a bit older.
This is the first magnolia tree in the Lake Merritt Gardens to bloom. The petals are deeper in color and the tree is much taller than the last. It is surrounded by other taller trees and it is a beautiful sight to see the bright magenta flowers through the branches.
magnolias at Mosswood park
January in Oakland means magnolia season so I have decided to photograph them with my good camera this year. This first tree is a small one near the Gardens of Lake Merritt (which could be also be considered Lakeside park) near the lawn bowling area. It is also the one that I will always remember a little two-year-old Emma saying “look mama, magnolahs!”
