collecting art

I came across another artist awhile back that really took my breath away—Michelle Armas. I really want one of her paintings on my wall some day. They are stunning! Her work is so special to me that an art print would not quite cut it.

In only a few cases have I felt that investing in the original piece of art is worth it. Mark Rothko is another example of an artist that I would prefer an original. Don’t get me wrong I love art prints. In the past I have happily purchased them from Studio Violet, the Black Apple, Sandra Juto, Three Fish Studios and Ashley G. I was gifted two amazing pieces from my friend Jason and unfortunately don’t really have any more wall space in the cottage (because there are so many windows!) but I wish that I did. I am a very visual person and am always inspired by the art in my home.

making things

Making fun and colorful projects at home and school. Tomorrow is the last day working at my school for the rest of the year. Funny to think about it that way. I will be on maternity leave and enjoying baby Emma Clover. My home projects will be in full swing soon. Making birth announcements, scrubbing everything, getting a crib and just general nesting. I am looking forward to it all very much.

compost poster

This was the coolest thing that I saw at the Renegade Craft Fair this past weekend.

Created by Joe Wirtheim, this piece is part of a self-commissioned project. The posters are designed to inspire and his work is committed to civic innovation and social progress—better food, better gardens, better cities. Visit his site at the Victory Garden of Tomorrow and Etsy shop to see more.
