I have long admired Mary Blair. She is best known for the art and animation work she produced for the Walt Disney company. Her vision for Alice and Wonderland has always been my favorite but every piece is beautiful.
Fun fact: Mary Blair was born the same day as Emma Clover, just 100 years earlier. We will visit Disneyland at the end of the month to celebrate Emma turning ten years old. We are so excited but disappointed that It’s A Small World will be closed again. At least Emma can see Mary Blair’s fantastic clock.
After ten years as a still life photographer, Maggie Taylor started using the computer in 1996 to manipulate her photos to create a new kind of artistic work. Her pieces are rich with texture and I am drawn to the surreal look they achieve. Absolutely love her collection “Almost Alice-New Illustrations of Wonderland.”
I went to see Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland with maiki and we both really enjoyed it. I don’t usually read reviews but still managed to hear that folks were not very impressed. I was always a fan of the stories and films but tried to keep an open mind going into the theatre. I thought that this version was very endearing and Mia Wasikowska is my favorite Alice. We squealed when we heard Alan Rickman’s voice and loved Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Of course it was wacky but it is what it is! <3
