Gardens of Lake Merritt have reopened
“Dancing among the flowers with dainty painted wings, flits the golden butterfly, joy to my heart she brings.”
We are spending every day nature bathing in the garden while we can. No one knows if rising case counts of covid 19 will close it again. For now I am greatly appreciative that it’s open again to the public.
Moomin house improvements
The house got some landscaping. Since I decided it would be a fine outdoor play house we could incorporate plants and shells. It is so fun and inviting!
these things are bringing me joy lately
maiki’s nightly read alouds of Tove Jansson’s Moomin Valley books. He does voices and everything. Here is Moomin’s house.
Tent Life: shelter in place in tent! We bring the WiFi spot and relax in the great outdoors just blocks from home.

maiki is teaching himself to play the piano by ear. Emma and I are going to learn too.
I ordered a robe as an early birthday present. I like it very much.
day trips in June
We borrowed a car from a friend for a few days to have some mini adventures. It was nice to go a bit further, shop at different places and breathe in the fresh air.
In addition to visiting Caesar Chavez park in Berkeley (photos in previous post), we hiked in Oakland and visited the shore in Alameda.
