This was our first time on the sky line at the Oakland zoo and it was amazing. The fare is extra, three dollars per rider but totally worth it. You get to see giraffes, tigers, lions, elephants and camels in their enclosures and then the bison and tule elk were just outside of the fenced area that visitors can presently see. There is a plan to create a “California Trail” for this section so that visitors can walk along and observe the bison, elk, eagles, etc. in the natural Oakland Hills environment. It was of course a bit scary to be carried over a couple of lions with one’s precious child but overall the ride was exhilarating and we liked be up in the treetops and up in the sky with the birds. Also, great views of the bay can be seen! ^_^

petting zoo
We visited the Oakland Zoo and loved petting the goats and sheep. They were so sweet and it was fun to watch them eat their flower snacks.

through the looking glass
I noticed that I had collected some selfies by taking photos of my reflections in mirrors as of late. Sometimes is fun to look back. I still love that Eileen Fisher coat/cape that I tried on at Knimble. Soooo cuuute!! ^_^
Abalone Cove, Palos Verdes
When we visited family in So.Cal last we drove down to Palos Verdes. We parked at Abalone Cove and hiked down to the water where there are tide pools and a beach area. It was a beautiful afternoon and we saw a dolphin swimming nearby in the water. I used to drive to P.V. a lot when I lived there and it was really a neat experience for me to visit with Emma Clover. It was super relaxing walking on the beach, listening the sounds of the ocean and the birds. I saw a dozen pelicans fly in formation over head and thought of the lovely birds we have at home near Lake Merritt. However, nothing beats a visit to the ocean.
