The Art of Roy De Forest

The Art of Roy De Forest at the Oakland museum. They have an interactive space for kids with felt that is super cool. Clover made an underwater scene.

We visited the Art of Roy De Forest exhibit at the Oakland museum. He is a quirky artist and we could both appreciate the fun magical worlds he has created in his work. The museum created a really neat interactive space for kids with cut out felt pieces inspired by shapes and themes in De Forest’s art.

Clover decided to make an underwater scene. Felt has always been one of my favorite materials and this is definitely the coolest application of the the felt board that I have ever encountered.

Oakland Museum and Oakland Library join together

Yesterday we planned to visit the main library, which is open on Sundays, but we discovered not until one p.m. so we went a little further to the museum. I realized that it was first Sunday and the admission was free but it was more crowded than usual. We arrived just in time for a fun gathering. It turned out that the Oakland library and museum planned a fun event for kids in the museums’ gardens. Clover made a book, jumped in the bounce house, ate a snow cone and popcorn, got a caricature drawn, and hula hooped and threw balls around in the grass.
