karl blossfeldt

Sunday I took a walk over to Fourth Street here in Berkeley and visited Castle in the Air, a favorite shop full of imagination and creativity. They are offering books now and I found Taschen’s book on Karl Blossfeldt.

Karl Blossfeldt (June 13, 1865 – December 9, 1932) was a German photographer, sculptor, teacher and artist who worked in Berlin, Germany. He is famous for his close up photographs of plants.

I love how when these pieces are taken out of context they take on a whole new identity.
